I have been digging WW2 relics for more than 20 years now. The first 10 years were spent recovering a small number of WW2 relics, along with a great many more beer cans. fag packets and condom wrappers. Indeed, on one memorable occasion, I found a beer can in which was stuffed a fag packet and a condom wrapper! Someone had a good time……..

However, once I learnt the value of research, the finds I made swung greatly in my favour, and I started to recover a LOT of WW2 relics on every dig, the vast majority from UK soil. It just goes to show, you don’t need to visit the battlefields of Europe to recover WW2 relics.

Before you view the pictures of my little collection, please bear in mind the following…….

EVERY ITEM ABIDES BY CURRENT UK FIREARMS LEGISLATION.

THERE IS NOT ONE MILLIGRAM OF EXPLOSIVE OR PROPELLANT MATERIAL IN MY COLLECTION.

ALL ORDNANCE ITEMS ARE VISUALLY INERT, AND NEVER CAPABLE OF BEING MADE ‘ACTIVE’ EVER AGAIN.

Every single item inside cabinets or display cases has been recovered by me. The majority of items outside of these cabinets is also ground dug! Hate to think how much soil I’ve shifted over the years……

There are a few Carboot and Military Fair purchases in among this lot, but 95% of it is ground dug.

Ok….so maybe not a little collection, but every collection starts with one item! I’ve just taken it to a bit of an extreme….
